OSS or open source software is a project where the source code is freely available to the public, allowing anyone to view, modify, and distribute the code, enabling collaborative development and community contributions. Many large companies with developers on staff leverage open source without ever contributing back to the companies whose source code they borrow from. The Open Source Pledge was created to help push funds to these types of projects.
